May Aresko Lam 林婉兒

Before starting my private practice, I had worked in NGOs for 15 years. I am now an Accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist of Play Therapy International (UK) with more than 1300 hours clinical practice and have obtained a master degree in play therapy. Likewise, I have been a Certified Child Life Specialist (ACLP, US) since 2016 and have completed 4,000 hours paid child life clinical practice in 2018, which qualified me to be an internship supervisor. I have over 10 years of experience in providing psychological support and counselling to hospitalized children, children with severe illness and palliative children and families in various hospitals. At the same time, I have used play therapy to help bereaved siblings or children with emotional and behavioural problems, resolving issues like anxiety, impulsive and aggressive behaviour, lack of confidence and competence, school maladjustment, social incompetence and poor parenting. In the past, I have also organized talks, workshops, as well as child and adolescent developmental activities at secondary schools, churches, women’s associations and child and family bereavement centers. In recent years, in addition to conducting individual play therapy sessions with children in my private playroom, I have also collaborated with various schools and organizations to provide on-site or outreach services. These services include individual play therapy, group play therapy, child life groups, social/emotional groups, parent-child workshops, filial play coaching, lectures, and training in play therapy fundamentals. Currently undergoing supervision at The Education University of Hong Kong and the Play Therapy International (UK).
